Abstract
An exhaust gas cleaner which can attain an improvement in the efficiency of particulate filter regeneration and has excellent durability. The exhaust gas cleaner, which purifies an exhaust gas discharged from an internal combustion engine, comprises: a gas channel through which the exhaust gas flows; and a DPF () disposed in the gas channel and having many pores. The DPF () has an introduction surface () which comes into contact with the exhaust gas, the surface () having been almost wholly coated with a microporous material () having micropores with a smaller pore diameter than the pores. This microporous material () comprises a support made of an oxygen-storing/releasing oxide having one or more elements selected from the group consisting of alkaline earth metal elements, transition metal elements, Group-12 elements, and Group-13 elements and a silver-containing catalyst deposited on the support.
