Abstract
A clamp sleeve for an indexing device is provided, the clamp sleeve being capable of providing a desirable clamping force without greatly increasing a fluid pressure, and having a long life. A clamp sleevehas a through holeand an annular groovecontinuously provided around an outer periphery of the clamp sleeveand defining a part of a pressure chamber. The annular grooveincludes a pair of inner end surfaces, a groove bottom surfaceextending in parallel to the through hole, and arcuate first transition surfacesprovided between the inner end surfacesand the groove bottom surface. The annular grooveis provided such that a thickness tin a region provided with the groove bottom surfaceis a thickness to allow the region to be deformable. A second transition surfaceis provided between at least one of the first transition surfacesand the groove bottom surface, the second transition surfacehaving a further reduced curvature than a curvature of the first transition surfaces.
