Abstract

An optical connector () defining a receiving space () includes an insulative housing (), a plurality of contacts () and an optical fiber module () retained in the insulative housing (). The insulative housing () has a base () and a tongue () extending forwardly from the base (). The base () has a front wall () and a cavity () extending therethrough. The optical fiber module () is received in the cavity () and has at least a position post () extending forwardly beyond the front wall (). A protecting mechanism () extends into the receiving space (). The protecting mechanism () has a front end () arranged at front of the position post () to make the receiving space () having a first insertion length (X) and a second insertion length (Y). The second insertion length (Y) is larger than the first insertion length (X).
