Abstract
Method of efficiently allocating a downlink channel from a transmitter () to one user selected from a plurality of users (---N) in a wireless network providing different service applications to said users (---N), which comprises the steps of: at a DLC queue () of said transmitter (), ranking () a plurality of M application layer packets to be transmitted to said plurality of users (---N), said ranking being based on a quality of service demand associated to each application layer packet, said quality of service demands being in turn associated to respective classes of applications (C, C, C, C), said DLC queue () having length M, M being a natural number, said M packets corresponding to P users of said plurality of users (---N), wherein P≦M. It also comprises: dynamically changing said length M of said DLC queue () as a function of the different instantaneous values of quality-of-service demands of the different service applications to which said application layer packets relate, thus adjusting the operating point of the network; and at a scheduler () of said transmitter (), allocating a channel to the user having best channel conditions of said group of P users.
