An information recording medium () of the present invention has a plurality of recording layers (, and) for recording therein data. Each of the plurality of recording layers corresponds to one of a plurality of recording formats. A first recording layer number (SLN) assigned with each of the recording layers in accordance with a disposed position of each of the recording layer and a second recording layer number (LLN) assigned with corresponding recording format are included in the address area () for the data, with respect to each of the plurality of recording layer.
