A magenta toner contains a binder resin; at least one selected from a diimonium compound represented by the following general formula (1) and an aminium compound represented by the following general formula (2); and a monomethylquinacridone: where in the general formulae (1) and (2), R, R, R, R, R, R, Rand Reach independently represent a hydrogen atom, an unsubstituted or substituted and linear alkyl group, an unsubstituted or substituted and branched alkyl group, an unsubstituted or substituted and cyclic alkyl group, an unsubstituted or substituted and linear alkenyl group, an unsubstituted or substituted and branched alkenyl group, an unsubstituted or substituted and cyclic alkenyl group, or an unsubstituted or substituted aralkyl group; and Xrepresents an anion.
