An optical fiber connectoris provided with a mechanical splice sectionfor mechanically securing and connecting optical fibersto each other. The mechanical splice sectionincludes a base platehaving a V-groovefor positioning the optical fibersand a pressing platefor pressing the optical fibersagainst the base plate.
