Abstract
A radar system () for a vehicle () includes a transmit unit () and a receive unit (). The transmit unit () includes a single beam antenna () for output of a radar signal () into a target zone (). The receive unit () includes a single beam antenna () for receiving a direct receive signal () and an indirect receive signal (). The receive signals () are reflections of the radar signal () from an object () in the target zone (). The indirect receive signal () is reflected off the object () toward a reflective panel () of the vehicle (), and the indirect receive signal () is reflected off the reflective panel () for receipt at the receive antenna (). The receive signals () are summed to produce a detection signal () indicating presence of the object () in the target zone ().
