Abstract
The present invention relates to a modifiedhost cell, wherein one or more naturally occurring chromosomal chloramphenicol acetyl transferase encoding gene(s), cat, has been inactivated. The inactivation of the chromosomal cat gene(s) allows the use of chloramphenicol as an efficient selective agent in methods for DNA introduction into the modified cell.
