Abstract
The document describes a coated paper for offset printing e.g. with a TAPPI 75° gloss value of below 35% or with high gloss properties, comprising at least on one side a top coating layer, said top coating layer comprising a pigment part, the 100 parts in dry weight thereof comprising in the range of 5-40 parts in dry weight of a fine particulate ground calcium carbonate with surface and internal structure modification as a result of treatment with one or more medium to strong HO+ providers and eventually additional treatment with gaseous carbon dioxide, a binder part of 2-20 parts in dry weight of binder and (regular) additives in the range of 0-8 parts in dry weight.
