A toner for developing an electrostatic image, contains a binder resin having an acid value of from approximately 10 mgKOH/g to approximately 20 mgKOH/g and carbon black having a surface carboxyl group density of from approximately 2×10mol/m to approximately 8×10mol/m, and is prepared in an aqueous medium.
