Abstract

A method for providing law enforcement call preemption of VoIP subscribers may include receiving a call preemption request from a law enforcement agency (LEA) designating at least one subscriber telephone number and at least one LEA telephone number, wherein the at least one subscriber telephone number is associated with a voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) calling plan subscriber. An incoming call policy may be generated at a voice application server and configured to allow incoming calls to the at least one subscriber telephone number from only the at least one LEA telephone number. The incoming call policy may be stored in a memory associated with the voice application server. The incoming call policy may be activated. An outgoing call transfer policy may be generated at the voice application server and configured to automatically transfer all outgoing calls from the at least one subscriber telephone number to a designated one of the at least one LEA telephone numbers. The outgoing call transfer policy may be stored in the memory associated with the voice application server. The outgoing call transfer policy may be activated.
