Abstract
A wheel braking mechanismcomprising a brake shaft, a brake drum, an engagement pedaland a disengagement pedal. The brake shafthas a plurality of first splinesprovided around the brake shaft. A first alignment memberis provided at the end of each first splineand has first and second oppositely directed chamfered alignment surface. The brake drumdefines a brake socket around which are provided a plurality of second splines, which define a plurality of spline recesses. A second alignment memberis provided at the opposing end of each second spline. Movement of the brake shafttowards the brake drumcauses the first alignment membersto travel down the respective alignment surfaces of the second alignment members, thereby aligning the first splines with the respective adjacent spline recess
