Abstract

The present invention relates to a process for producing light olefins from a synthesis gas with significantly improved conversion and selectivity for C-Clight olefins in general and propylene in particular, as compared to a conventional process, through a sequential two-step process comprising preparing olefin compounds from a synthesis gas in the presence of an iron catalyst by the Fischer-Tropsch reaction followed by cracking the olefin compounds in the presence of a zeolite catalyst.
