Abstract
The invention relates to a tool () for machining workpieces, having a base body (), at least one geometrically defined culling edge () on which a face () abuts, a chip space () associated with the cutting edge for receiving the chips removed by the cutting edge (), and a chip guide element () associated with the cutting edge (). The tool is characterized in that the cutting edge () together with the chip guide element () forms a receiving gap () which merges into the chip space () and into which the chips removed by the cutting edge () are introduced, and the chip guide element () has a guide surface () which, together with the face (), forms a receiving channel () which abuts the receiving gap ().
