Abstract
An abseiling device for braking a load () that is suspended on a rope () and may be fastened to the abseiling device (), with which the rope () passes through the abseiling device () and is frictionally guided along a section (), at least one portion of the section () being guided by a part () of the abseiling device () that is movable out of an unloaded starting position relative to a housing () of the abseiling device; when a load is suspended, the part () generates a frictional force that is a function of the weight of the load ().
