Abstract
The present invention provides a color liquid crystal panel in an o-mode of an IPS mode, which has a multi-gap structure, and in which a contrast in an oblique direction is enhanced. A first polarizeris provided on a color filterside of a liquid crystal celland a second polarizeris provided on a liquid crystal layerside of the liquid crystal cell. Further, a retardation filmis provided between the second polarizerand the liquid crystal cell. The liquid crystal cellhas a configuration in which the color filteris laminated on a glass substrate, and a liquid crystal layeris interposed between the color filterand a glass substrate. Regarding the thickness of the liquid crystal layer, a thickness dof a region in contact with the blue color filterB is smallest, and a thickness dof a region in contact with the green color filterG and a thickness dof a region in contact with the red color filterR increase in this order. That is, the liquid crystal cellhas a multi-gap structure in which the thickness of the liquid crystal layervaries depending upon the colors of the color filter
