Abstract
A display device () includes an upper substrate (first substrate) (), a lower substrate (second substrate) (), and a conductive liquid () that is sealed in a display space (S) formed between the upper substrate () and the lower substrate () so as to be moved toward an effective display region (P) or a non-effective display region (P). In the display device (), a signal electrode (), a reference electrode (), and a scanning electrode () are configured so that voltages in a predetermined voltage range can be independently applied to the respective electrodes. The same voltages (third voltage and fourth voltage) are applied to the reference electrode () and the scanning electrode () that are provided on the lower substrate () so as to be located on the effective display region (P) side and the non-effective display region (P) side, respectively.
