Abstract
The invention provides a phosphor composed of (MRE)SiOX, wherein M is Ba individually or in combination with at least one of Mg, Ca, Sr, or Zn; RE is Y, La, Pr, Nd, Eu, Gd, Tb, Ce, Dy, Yb, Er, Sc, Mn, Zn, Cu, Ni, or Lu; X is F, Cl, Br, or combinations thereof; 0.001≦x≦0.6, and 0.001≦y≦1.5. Under excitation, the phosphor of the invention emits visible light and may be collocated with other phosphors to provide a white light illumination device.
