Abstract

A musical instrument tuner for string instruments is disclosed, which comprises a signal classifier for determining a signal class of an input signal from a number of monophonic signal classes and a number of polyphonic signal classes, a signal analyzer for determining at least one representation of a pitch frequency of the input signal, and an indicator for displaying an output established on the basis of the signal class and the representation of a pitch frequency, wherein the indicator includes at least a monophonic display mode and at least a polyphonic display; and wherein the display mode is selected in dependency of the signal class determined by the signal classifier. Tuning methods, computer program products, music instruments, amplifiers and audio processors relating to the above are also disclosed.
