Abstract

Disclosed is a novel process for producing a compound represented by the general formula (1) by using a microorganism, wherein the compound is useful as a plant growth stimulant. Specifically disclosed is a process for producing a succinic acid amide compound represented by the general formula (1) [wherein Ar represents a phenyl, naphthyl or indolyl group which may have a substituent; and n represents a numeral value ranging from 1 to 4] or a salt thereof, which is characterized by culturing a microorganism of the genusthat is capable of synthesizing a succinic acid amide in a culture medium containing an arylalkylamine represented by the general formula (2).
