Abstract
A liquid crystal display deviceincludes: a liquid crystal layer; a front substrateand a rear substratebetween which the liquid crystal layeris held; a pair of electrodesbetween which the liquid crystal layeris interposed and which are configured to apply a voltage across the liquid crystal layer; circular polarizersrespectively provided on a front side of the front substrateand a rear side of the rear substrate; and first and second alignment filmsrespectively provided between the liquid crystal layerand the front substrateand between the liquid crystal layerand the rear substrate. The liquid crystal layerincludes, in each of the pixels, a continuous wall, a plurality of small sectionsseparated by the wall, and a plurality of liquid crystal regions, each of which is formed in any one of the plurality of small sections. The plurality of liquid crystal regionsinclude first and second liquid crystal regions which have directorsin a plane parallel to the liquid crystal layer, the directorsof the first and second liquid crystal regions are oriented in different directions.
