Abstract
First, an amount of external EGR gas is adjusted so that an amount, by which an amount of internal EGR gas is adjusted, falls within a predetermined range (Sto S), and, then, the amount of internal EGR gas is adjusted when the amount, by which the amount of internal EGR gas is adjusted, falls within the predetermined range (Sto S) in order to execute a feedback control so that an EGR rate, which indicates a proportion of EGR gas including the external EGR gas and the internal EGR gas to intake air that is supplied to the internal combustion engine, matches a target EGR rate.
