Abstract

A closing machine () for closing an open end of a work piece () by pressing a die () against the work piece () rotating about an axial center comprises a chuck spindle () that drives the work piece () to rotate, a chuck sliding support mechanism () that supports the work piece () so that the work piece () can move in a rotary axis direction relative to the chuck spindle (), and a thrust stopper () that causes an end portion of the work piece (), which is moved by a load applied from the die (), to abut against the thrust stopper () such that the work piece () is supported in a predetermined closing position.
