Abstract
To provide an optical connecting member capable of positioning and connecting a coated fiber by a simple connecting work with high precision, and a method of fitting the same. An optical connectorfitted onto an optical fiberthat has a coatingon an outer periphery of a glass fiberhas a ferrulewith a glass fiber insertion hole, a fixing portionfor fixing the optical fiberthat is inserted into the glass fiber insertion holeand is abutted to the short optical fiber, an insertion portwhich is a coating removing portionfor removing the coatingfrom an end portion of the optical fiberby an insertion force applied the optical fiberto an inner side of the optical connector, a deflection spaceprovided between the fixing portionand the coating removing portionto contain the optical fiberin a deflected state therein, wherein a deflection preventing memberfor preventing partially a deflection of the optical fiberby shielding a part of an insertion direction of the optical fiberin the deflection spaceis detachably attached.
