Abstract
In a hard disk drive (HDD), a ratio of the distance R between the axis of rotation of an actuator and a magnetic head to the distance Rbetween the axis of rotation of the actuator and the center of a disk is in the range of 0.9 to 0.96. Thus, the deviation of the skew angles for the tracks from 0 degrees is minimized and yet a swing arm of the actuator can be relatively short. Accordingly, not only is the recording density maximized, but the HDD can be small and light as well.
