Abstract
A drive mechanism for a hammer drill comprises a hollow pistonhaving a cylindrical bearing that is adapted to receive a crank pin in order to cause the hollow pistonto reciprocate inside a spindle. A plurality of longitudinal ridgesare formed on the outer surface of the hollow pistonto reduce the surface area of contact between the hollow pistonand the spindle, and a plurality of groovesare formed in the gaps between the ridges.
