Abstract

A reversible thermochromic system comprising a) a compound of the formula (IA) or a tautomer thereof or a compound of the formula (IB) or a tautomer thereof (IA) (IB) wherein Ris C-Calkyl, C-Calkenyl, C-Ccycloalkyl, C-Ccycloalkyl substituted by 1, 2 or 3 C-Calkyl; phenyl, phenyl substituted by 1, 2 or 3 C-Calkyl; or C-Cphenylalkyl; Ris hydrogen or a group —SO—R; Rand Rindependently of one another are hydrogen, C-Calkyl, C-Calkenyl, C-Ccycloalkyl, C-Ccycloalkyl substituted by 1, 2 or 3 C-Calkyl; phenyl, phenyl substituted by 1, 2 or 3 C-Calkyl; or C-Cphenylalkyl; and R is C-Calkyl, C-Calkenyl, C-Ccycloalkyl, C-Ccycloalkyl substituted by 1, 2 or 3 C-Calkyl; phenyl, phenyl substituted by 1, 2 or 3 C-Calkyl; or C-Cphenylalkyl; and b) a compound containing a group of the formula (III).
