Abstract
The present invention is directed to decrease the impact sound of the ratchet mechanism generated at the time of piston retraction. The tensioner includes a pistonslidable in the piston boreof the housingand an expandable circlip memberengageable with the engagement grooveof the piston. The piston borehas a guide grooveformed therein that has front and rear stop surfacesadapted to contact the circlip member.
