Abstract

A lamp assemblyhas a housingthat preferably is non-rotationally symmetrical. In a particular embodiment the housingcan be rectangular; however, other non-rotationally symmetrical housings can also be employed. The housingincludes a baseand an upstanding wallsurrounding the base. The space between the coverand the basedefines a light-conducting channel. A light-receiving apertureis defined in the housingand in one instance is formed to receive light from a light source. A first light-receiving conduitis defined in the light-conducting channeland is formed to receive light from the light sourcethat is fitted into the light-receiving apertureand conduct light to a second light-receiving conduitdefined in the light-conducting channel. The second light-receiving conduitis positioned at an angle relative to the first light-receiving conduitand has a proximal regionto receive light from the first light-receiving conduitand a distal regionto emit light. The second conduitis not directly in the line of sight of the first conduitand thus relies upon reflected light from the light source. The upper covercomprises a light transmissive peripheral regionthat is in communication with the light-emitting distal regionof the second light-receiving conduit
