Abstract
An apparatus of the present invention includes: a folding sectionfor folding a web W in two so that opposite side edges Wa and Wb of the web W are brought into a predetermined positional relationship with each other by bringing the web W into contact with an abutting member; a pair of carrying meansA andB arranged along opposite sides of the web W for carrying the web W in the longitudinal direction X; a plurality of holding meansprovided in each of the carrying meansA andB wherein the holding meanscan be displaced in the transverse direction D of the web W; displacement meansfor displacing the holding meansin the transverse direction D upstream of the abutting memberso as to correct a positional relationship between the web W and the abutting member; detection meansfor outputting positional information regarding a position of the web W in the transverse direction D; and control meansfor controlling the displacement meansbased on the positional information.
