Abstract

An electrode for a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary batteryaccording to the present invention includes: a current collector; a first active material layerformed on the current collector; and a second active material layerprovided on the first active material layer, the second active material layerincluding a plurality of active material particles. The plurality of active material particlesis mainly of a chemical composition represented as SiO(0≦x<1.2). The first active material layeris mainly of a chemical composition represented as SiO(1.0≦y<2.0, y>x). The area in which the first active material layeris in contact with the plurality of active material particlesis smaller than the area in which the current collectoris in contact with the first active material layer
