Abstract
To provide a coating apparatus and a coating method capable of accurately control the coating width of a coating liquid on an article to be coated. A coating apparatusinclude conveying means having a plurality of rollersandfor conveying a belt-shaped article to be coated, a coating diefor applying a coating liquidto the article to be coated, the article to be coatedbeing conveyed by the conveying means, and positioning means for changing the position of the coating diewith respect to the article to be coatedin response to a coating width indicating the width of the coating liquidapplied to the article to be coated, wherein the coating dievertically applies the coating liquidfrom a position that is located at where the article to be coatedis wound by the rollerand below the central portion of the roller, and the positioning means controls the width of the coating liquid applied to the article to be coatedby moving the coating diein horizontal directions.
