Abstract
A joining method for joining a second member to a first which is a tubular member having a plurality of hollow portions partitioned by a partition wall portion is provided. The first memberis inserted into an insertion holeformed in the second member. A die segmentof a dieand a wedge portion segmentof a mandrelare disposed in each hollow portionof the first member. Next, in a state in which the partition wall portionis held by and between both wedge portion segmentsand, each wedge portion segmentis inserted into the corresponding wedge hole portion segmentof the die segmentto thereby move each die segmentof the dieradially outward of the first member. With this, the inserted portionof the first memberinserted in the insertion holeand both portionsandaxially adjacent to the inserted portion are expanded to thereby join the first memberand the second member
