Abstract
An optically anisotropic film comprising at least one species of liquid crystal compound which exhibits a nematic phase or a smectic phase, the liquid crystal phase showing birefringence Δn(λ) at wavelength λ which satisfies the numerical expression (1) below is disclosed.Δ(450 nm)/Δ(550 nm)<1  (1)
