Abstract

The invention provides a process for removal of HCN and NHfrom synthesis gas, the process comprising the steps of: (a) contacting feed synthesis gas comprising HCN with a HCN hydrolysis sorbent in the presence of water, thereby obtaining synthesis gas comprising NH; (b) contacting the synthesis gas comprising NHwith an acidic cation exchange resin in the presence of water to remove NH, thereby obtaining purified synthesis gas.
