Abstract

Disclosed is a bar feeder, which is capable of reliably loading a bar onto a guide rail with a simplified structure. The bar feedercomprises a stock rack, a guide railfor guiding a bar to a bar machining apparatus, and a bar supply mechanismfor taking bars W one by one out of the stock rackand supplying the taken-out bar W onto the guide rail. The bar supply mechanismincludes a lifting memberadapted to lift a downstreammost one of the bar W on the stack rack, a bar receiving memberadapted to receive thereon the lifted bar W and supply the bar W onto the guide rail, and a stopper memberadapted to holds a second-downstreammost one of the bar W to be subsequently supplied. The lifting memberand the bar receiving memberare adapted to be driven by a common moving device, in such a manner that the lifting memberis linearly moved in an upward-downward direction in conjunction with a swing movement of the bar receiving member. The structure designed to drive the lifting memberand the bar receiving memberby the common moving devicemakes it possible to reduce the number of components for a driving section, and achieve structural simplification.
