A novel class of chiral ligands represented by a structure of Formula I: wherein R, R, R, Rand Rare independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, Calkyl, Calkenyl, Calkynyl, Calkoxy, C(O)R, C(O)NHR, Si(R), benzyl and aryl; X is selected from the group consisting of OH, OR, O-Prot and P(R)where Prot represents a protecting group; and Rand Rare selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, Calkyl, Calkenyl, Calkynyl, Calkoxy, phenyl, and aryl is disclosed herein.
