Abstract

A system controlled responsive to data bearing records includes a card reader that is operative to read card data from user cards including identifying data, and authorizes operation of an automated banking machine responsive to the identifying data. The banking machine can generate a check in response to user inputs. The banking machine can also present the check to the machine user. The banking machine can present an interface for the user to sign the check. The user's banking account is charged an amount corresponding to the check value. In exchange for the same banking machine receiving the generated check, the user is provided with cash dispensed from the banking machine. The banking machine also allows a user to select having a canceled check image displayed at the machine and/or sent to the user's network address.
