Abstract

A spent fuel storage rackaccording to the present invention is installed in a fuel storage pool of a nuclear facility, and has a rectangular parallelepiped shape forming a plurality of lattice-like cellsthat are configured to separately accommodate a plurality of fuel assemblies in a matrix of rows and columns. As shown in FIG., the spent fuel storage rackincludes: a baseconfigured to support lower parts of fuel assemblies, the baseforming a bottom surface of the spent fuel storage rack; an outer framelocated above the base, the outer frameforming an outermost periphery of the spent fuel storage rack; and a lattice bodydisposed inside the outer frame, the lattice bodyforming the lattice-like cells. The lattice bodyincludes: a main latticehaving a height equivalent to an active length of the fuel assembly; an upper latticedisposed above the main latticeso as to be fitted to an upper end of the main lattice; and a lower latticedisposed between the baseand the main latticeso as to be fitted to a lower end of the main lattice. Thus, the main latticecan be formed without welding, whereby the main latticecan be made of a boron-added stainless steel to which a sufficient amount of boron is added to absorb neutrons.
