Abstract

Method for production of indolocarbazoles by using rebeccamycin biosynthetic genes. The invention is based on utilization of rebeccamycin biosynthetic genes fromfor production of indolocarbazoles in related microorganisms (spp.). Method includes the isolation of a DNA fragment fromATCC39243 containing the rebeccamycin biosynthesis gene cluster and the expression of these genes in, achieving production of rebeccamycin and derivatives. The invention is suitable for use in the pharmaceutical field.
