A method and a system for controlling the manufacturing or finishing process of a fiber web at a transition stage of the process. In the method a corrected error profile (P') is formed using an error profile (P). Using the corrected error profile (P′) at least one control signal (CA) is determined for the actuators () of the manufacturing or finishing process of a fiber web.
