An azo pigment showing excellent coloring characteristics such as tinctorial strength and hue and excellent fastness such as light fastness, and a pigment dispersion containing the azo pigment are provided. An azo pigment represented by the following general formula (1) and a pigment dispersion containing the pigment: Wherein Y, G, X, X, R, Rand Rare defined in the claims and in the specification.
