Abstract

A plastic glass optical fiber includes a glass core (diameter a, relative refractive index difference Δ, and refractive index n), a polymer core (diameter a, relative refractive index difference Δ, and refractive index n), and a polymer cladding (refractive index n), in which the diameter aof the glass core is within a range of 110 μm to 200 μm, a parameter X (X is a/a) is within a range of 1.15≦X≦2.9, a parameter Y (Y is Δ/Δ) is within a range of 0.25≦Y≦0.84X−0.68 (when 1.15≦X≦2) or 0.48X−0.71≦Y≦−(2/9)X+13/9 (when 2≦X≦2.9), a parameter Z(Zis Z/Z; Z=aπ/4×√(n−n) and Z=aπ/4×√(n−n)) is within a range of 1.25≦Z≦4.
