Abstract

To provide a water/oil repellent composition which is capable of imparting sufficient dynamic water repellency and post-air-drying water repellency to the surface of an article and which presents a low environmental impact, a method for its production and a method for treating an article. A water/oil repellent composition which comprises a copolymer having structural units based on the following monomer (a) and structural units based on the following monomer (b) and having a mass average molecular weight of at least 40,000, and a medium, is used. Monomer (a): a compound represented by (Z—Y)X, wherein Z is a Cpolyfluoroalkyl group or the like, Y is a bivalent organic group or the like, n is 1 or 2, and X is a polymerizable unsaturated group. Monomer (b): an olefin, a homopolymer of which has a glass transition temperature of from −50° C. to 50° C.
