Abstract
A color filter manufacturing method includes discharging droplets of an ink from a droplet discharge head into a plurality of cells formed on a substrate while moving the substrate with respect to the droplet discharge head, and curing the ink discharged in the cells to form a colored portion within each of the cells. The discharging of the droplets includes prohibiting landing of the droplets in a landing prohibition region formed at a predetermined width from edges of each of the cells in a movement direction of the substrate with respect to the droplet discharge head. The landing prohibition region being arranged so that a relationship 0.5≦L/L≦4.5 is satisfied, wherein a value Lindicates a width of the landing prohibition region and a value Lindicates an average diameter of the droplets of the ink.
