Abstract

The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for characterizing acoustical properties of an outer ear, the method comprising the steps of: transmitting a first acoustic signaltowards the outer ear, receiving a second acoustic signalfrom the outer ear, and characterizing acoustical propertiesof the outer ear on the basis of the second acoustic signal. The method is characterized in that the first acoustic signalcomprises at least one of the following elements: music, and speech.
