A coating composition includes a silicone and a coating resin. The silicone has the formula MM' where M=RRRSiOand M′=RRRSiO. Rcan be a branched monovalent hydrocarbon radical of from 3 to 6 carbon atoms or R, where Rhas the formula RRRSiRwherein R, R, and Rcan independently be monovalent hydrocarbon radicals having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms and monovalent aryl or alkaryl hydrocarbon radicals having from 6 to 13 carbon atoms. Ris a divalent hydrocarbon radical having from 1 to 3 carbon atoms. Rand Rcan be from 1 to 6 carbon atom monovalent hydrocarbon radicals or R, with Rbeing an alkylpolyalkyleneoxide. And Rand Rare each independently selected from the group of monovalent hydrocarbon radicals having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms or Rthat exhibit resistance to hydrolysis over a wide pH range.
