Abstract
A recording device comprises a recording means () for recording content data on a recordable recording medium () having a first recording layer () including a first data area () and a second recording layer () including a second data area (), a first reading means () for reading the address of the position corresponding to the maximum capacity of the first data area, a second reading means () for reading the address of the layer jump position of the content data, a calculating means for calculating the position at which the recording of the contents data is started such that the layer jump position of the content data is recorded at the position corresponding to the maximum capacity of the first data area, and a first controlling means (); for controlling the recording means such that first padding data is recorded in an area from the start position of the first data area to the position at which the recording of the contents data is started.
