Abstract
A liquid crystal display device () includes: an active matrix substrate () having a plurality of gate lines () extending in parallel with each other; a counter substrate () provided so as to face the active matrix substrate (); a liquid crystal layer () provided between the active matrix substrate () and the counter substrate (); and spherical spacers () provided between the active matrix substrate () and the counter substrate () so as to overlap each gate line (), for defining a thickness of the liquid crystal layer (). A first protruding wall () for surrounding the spacers () is provided over each gate layer () of the active matrix substrate (), and a second protruding wall () for surrounding the spacers () is provided on the counter substrate ().
